Chef Jeffrey Crittenden has a unique story. He was born in Chicago, raised on the island of the

Bahamas and professionally trained in France. For many years he honed his culinary skills in

the Hotel and Corporate sectors of the Food Industry. He worked under the tutelage of Culinary

Master Chef Alain Ducasse.

While he enjoyed learning the art of fine dining, his heart was kept humble by his memories of

growing up in the Bahamas. Most of all he wanted to honor his culture and somehow combine it

with the fancy techniques he had acquired in Cannes. Jeff worked his way up the ranks in

Chicago’s finest hotels, The Four Seasons and The Ritz Carlton amongst them. After

becoming Executive Chef at the exclusive Skyline Club he had still not soothed the ache inside

him.

He knew now was the time to pursue his entrepreneurial goals. He wanted to finally combine the

rustic with the elegance, as they were now both part of who he was as a chef. With his wife’s

blessing he launched Island Tings. He now regularly creates mouthwatering dishes from his

childhood with refined flair!
